Emily Thompson is the founder and chief designer at Emily Thompson Flowers, known for its large sculptural floral installations and a wild, exuberant aesthetic. Emily's recent work includes the Couture Council's gala honoring Valentino at Lincoln Center, where she designed a glorious Italian picnic of lyrical summer flowers and fruit. In May 2011, a New York Times profile of Emily called her the "floral designer du jour" who creates "bouquets that look as if they were plucked whole from a Cornwall hedgerow".
Emily was raised in Vermont and earned her MFA in sculpture from UCLA. She founded her floral design company in Brooklyn, New York in 2006, bringing a fascination with the decorative arts and their history together with her esteem for the uncultivated organic world. Emily's work, like her ideal faux architectural ruin, evokes nature in magnificent style.
